Northwest Whites & Ryan Reichert
Why white wine?
I enjoy exploring wine of all kinds from around the world, and I really love white wines. They are refreshing, pair easily with many foods (especially being a foodie and vegan), and are easy to drink.
Oregon produces some of the best Pinot Noir in America, no doubt the world. Just across the Columbia River, Washington makes killer Syrah and Caberne Sauvignon. Red wine is wonderful, and the Pacific Northwest does not want for stellar examples. However, the northwest is also home to many excellent white wines; yet seldom do they get the attention many of the reds do. To address this, Northwest Whites gives exclusive coverage to the fantastic white wines being produced in Oregon and Washington.
However you feel about white wine—love, hate, confusion—I hope you enjoy exploring and learning about the wines, people, and places that appear on the site. There is always something more to learn, in both life and wine alike.
Who is Ryan Reichert?
I grew up and lived in the midwest for 25 years, before I followed my passion for wine to Oregon’s Willamette Valley. I love to explore and learn, and have travelled around the United States, Europe, and Asia tasting as much as I can. I hold the Advanced certification from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, am certified as a Spanish Wine Educator, and am pursuing my sommelier credentials with the Court of Master Sommeliers. I am also the managing editor for Palate Press and contribute to several other print and online publications.
